Debate with motion "THB juveniles who commit serious crimes should be tried as adults"

These are the arguements of both Government and Opposition side about the issue and please write some opinions about the motion, debate with each other!

Government Side arguements

Noone can criticize or blame that even though some academies like detention center regulate juvenile offenders some serious crimes that are committed by juveniles do harm our society and threat other virtuous students and it become worse. Did you ever think about why this kind of phenomenon occurs? That's becsause juveniles who commit crimes do not get serious punishment. Most of the juvenile offenders get onlt light punishment with education as the purpose of the juvenile Court is rehabilitation. But this may occur much more serious problems. Juveniles recognize their huge mistakes not very seriously. As they get light punishment. Juveniles who commit crime should be tried as adults so that they can recognize their problem more serously. Sometimes force is much more effective than talk or education. Therefore juveniles who commit serious crimes have to be tried as adults as they have to get strict punishment rather than light punishment with uneffective education.

Juveniles accurately distinguish which one is right and which one is wrong. And also they can control their emotions and actions. They are not "baby". Precisely speaking there are no big difference between adults and juveniles in the aspects of distinguishing right thing and wrong thing. What does it mean? It means that they should be responsible with their ability and the consequence and there is not big difference between adults and juveniles. Therfore it isso proper and fair that juvenile offernders are tried as adults.

Therefore the government side strongly believes that juveniles who commit serious crime should be tried as adults as they have to get more serious punishment to reflect themselves about the serious problems that they've committed.

Opposition Side arguements

Juveniles should get opportunities to be rehabilitated. It is so cruel to take opportunities from them. If they are tried as adults they can't get rehabilitation programs but only heavy punishment. Eventhough they commit crimes we have to give one more opportunity to them by education, not heavy punishment. If we just put them in jail with heavy punishment, they will loose their opportunities. For instance if a juve3nile go to adult prison, it is hard for them to get job when they are released, as the record remains. Also they can't get any opportunity of education when they are stuck in adult prison.

Juveniles who went to adult prison have higher rate of ricidivism than juvenileswho went to juvenile prison. And this supports the fact that circumstances of adult prison is bad andit is not effective for juveniles' reflection. We should give opportunity to reflect themselves about their fault. But does adult prison can do that role? Never! The ultimate purpose for Juvenile Court is educate and rehabilitate the juvenile offenders. And putthem in adult prison destroy the ultimate purpose of the Juvenile Court. Asadult prisons are just focus on punishment no trehabilitation, it can't give juvenilesthe opportunity of reflection. Also the adult prison's circumstance is bad. The fact that children in adult jails and prisons are 5times mmore likely to be raped, twice as likely to be beaten by staff, and 50% more likely to be attacked with a weapon.

Therefore the opposition side strongly believes that we should not tried juveniles who commit crimes as adults. Tried them as adults only brings juvenile offenders resistance and high rate of recidivism. And this is not good for our society as this is a vicious circle of crime.

NFB: Highrise - 360° Interactive

Before I write the essay, I would like to introduce this website that I've used, "Highrise". The website is introducing some people who live in various locations like Chicago, Johannesburg, Montreal, Havana, Prague, Tainan, Toronto, Amsterdam, Istanbul. And there are more countries that are introduced in this website. On the website it is talking about various people's life, tragedy or situations they've got. And you can slowly get fall into some various stories that it have comparing yourself and them.

Highrise Gallery
The character that I've got is Donna in Chicago. After I read about her story I felt so sorry about her. She has suffered from the public-housing project "Cabrini-Green" The project has been under redevelopment for more than 10 years since 1990s. The project was one of the most notorious Chicago Housing Authority projects. Its gang violence was reported internationally.

As the project has been continued, tons of dusts from the demolishing which can give some bad influence to the people around the area. I was so surprised that she has endured such a tragedy for more than 10 years. The dusts from the project can even occur some bad diseases like cancer. I felt so sorry about that and I  think I'm so lucky that I donot have to suffer from such a dust with extreme noise that invade my life a lot.

Also as the buildings are demolishing one by one, her moemories and recollections are demolishing too. She has been live in the apartment for her whole life but after the apartment gone, she didn't know what to do. Because the apartment was her whole "life". It was not just a apartment but a container that filled with all of her memories and events. After I read this story, I wholly sympathize with her as I have a similar experience with her : My family moved to another apartment, leaving an apartment that I had lived for more than 7 years. For me, 7 years is a very long time as I have lived only 14 years. Therefore I have many memories and recollections in the apartment. It was tough for me to leave the apartment and eventually I started to cry with sorrowness about my memories in the apartment. Still I miss my old apartment.

I think there are some many difference and similarities between me and Donna. As I have not suffered from dust and noise from demolishing old buildings but I can sympathize with her in the aspect of memories and recollections that she has in her demolished old building.

I thought that situation that Donna has is very similar with the situation of some Koreans who are suffered from government's redevelopment policy. Some people in Korea who live in poor areas are suffered from the redevelopment policy from the government. They have to be expelled from their house with little indemnity. The indemnity is so small that they can't buy another house for live and eventually they become homeless. Donna's situation is very similar with this as she is suffered from the redevelopment policy from Chicago government named "Cabrini-Green".

Ode - Dear Electronic Dictionary

Dear Electronic Dictionary

It has been 6 years since I bought you when I was second grade in elementry school. When I first met you, I was screaming with happiness through the sweet air around me. You was so precious for me as you was the first electronic good that I've got. I said 'Thank you' 100 times to my parents for the extreme boon that I've got, you. Eventhough you do not have any game or music you was precious, important and significant for me.

Your shiny appearance was very impressive for me. And your brilliant knowledge about vocabulary helped me a lot. I can search vocabularies so easily as I do not have to find them through the hundreds of paper that paper dictionaries have. Your convenience and smartness was impressive for me. You made me happy and motivate me. You gave me tremendous interests on the English, searching large, plentiful, tremendous and huge amount of vocabularies through the typing.

Once, I dropped you on the floor in an accident and I was so surprised that I was about to collapsed.  After the situation I strongly concrete my definite promise that I won't drop you on the floor again! I was so anxious about some side effects with the shock that I gave. But fortunately you are okay and I was screaming through happiness again. I felt so guilty on you, failing to get to sleep with the guilty conscience on you.

But your shiny paints and my interest on you get decreased while I bought some other electronic goods like nintendo and cell phones and your appearance got old through six years, the time that I've used you. And eventually you became just a dictionary for me not such a precious thing. But still you are playing important role in my life as a dutiful electronic dictionary. Let's have a great time for another 6 years through vocabulary!

Wacky Web Tale - A New Sport

Young Il and I decided to try out the newest sport at Gwacheon Munwon middle school. It's called crazy fish. The object of the game is to kick a(n) crazy fish all the way to the end of the field. Every time you do, the fans yell “burst through the door!” and you get 986874673867263865 points. The person with the most points wins.
Young Il started and kicked the fish halfway down the field. What a shot! Then it was my turn. I picked up the fish, took aim, and missed completely. I felt so pretty! I tried again, and this time I kicked the fish all the way to the end of the field. The fans in the stands hollered “burst through the door!” I won the game!
Now I am the champion of Gwacheon Munwon middle school! I didn't want Young Il to feel badly, so I treated Young Il to a trip to VIPS for a(n) icecream sundae with blood on top!

1st person narrative - GLPS escape!!!

Inro: This is a fiction that I've made. This story is about escape from GLPS. It can be fabulous but please don't ignore this. This story is written in 1st person narrative which is pretty common. This is my fiction.
-->

Today I woke up with enervate body and I don't want to do anything. So I just rushed through the hallway to escape from GLPS. I wanted to feel feeling of freedom, struggling with stuffiness. I robbed the bus from KMLA by crashing the windows, throwing a rock to the windows. I didn't know how to control the bus and I just accelerated, destroying all the things in KMLA.

Eventually I escaped from GLPS, rushing through the highway. I didn't know where the bus is going . But I just drove and drove through the endless highway. I stopped to get some rest. I drank a cup of juice and eat a hamburger. During the rest I saw a man selling a jet engine. At that moment a great idea grazed my head. I robbed the jet engine and installed it to the bus that I've rode.

I started the bus and the bus started to fly through the blue sky. And I just shouted with happiness. The flying bus flew through the blue sky, going to Jeju island. Therefore I went to Jeju island. But very unfortunate event is waiting for me.

Hanla Mountain exploded in a roar. Lava ran down the mountain, running toward people including me. I ran as fast as I can toward the sea to live. (My bus was already get eaten by the lava so I can't use it.) Eventually I was arrived in the beach and sink to the water. I swam and swam toward KMLA as I realized that KMLA is the only place that I could have rest. I swam through the East sea and finally reached to KMLA.

But fortunately it was only a dream and I ate breakfast, preparing for the debate calss.

Viral Video- Double Rainbow

Paul Vasquez posted this video on Youtube on January 8, 2010. This video became popular as Jimmy Kimmel posted this video on Twitter. And eventually gained more than one million viewers. On July 5 2010 Gregory Brothers made "Double Rainbow Song" and it have got 19,365,098 views. And eventuallly Windows Live Photo Gallery work together with Paul Vasquez to make it's advertisement, using the viral video.

I think Vasquez is very lucky as he became popular with his video, crying with the double rainbow. I wonder why this video is so viral as he just crying with the double rainbow, shouting "Oh double rainbow, what does it mean?"

I was pretty surprised that the video and the upgrade version of this video "Double Rainbow Song" have got millions of viewers and it was even on a advertisement of Window Live Photo Gallery.

Even though this video is quite absurdity, I think it is not that funny. And I wondered "What was the original purpose for Paul Vasquez of uploading the video? I think he just want to show beautiful (not very beautiful but I think he ws very impressed by the double rainbow) double rainbow to other people so that he can share the happiness with others.

S.A.T. Style Reflective Essay: "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring"

In the film a young monk put a rock on animal's neck. So the animals, fish, frong and snake couldn't move their body easily and the monk laughing at them, not noticing the witness of his teacher.

During night, the teacher got into the monk's room and do the same thing that the monk did previously to the monk.

Next morningm the teacher asked to the monk about his action that he took yesterday And the monk aditted all the things that he did yesterday. The teacher said then, "Release the animals you had caught yesterday." Therefore the monk follow his command.

I have a similar experience with his film : When I was young, I wanted to raise some fish. But my mother said, "You can't raise animals in the house as the animals may easily die by some stresses. You don't want to be locked in a small place, it is same for the animals."

However I thought that "I can take care of them very well therefore they won't get any stresses." So, I bought some fishfrom a store and started to raise them.

At first, I tried to take care of them, but as time goes, my attention on them gets weaker and weaker. And eventually they died as I didn't participate on them.

At that night, the day that my fish died, I was struggling with an emotion of my fish. I couldn't get out from a feeling that I killed the fish. Finally I cried, feeling a guilty on my fish.

With this experience, I get a lesson "Every life is precious and have to be repsected." And I think this is the thing that the teacher was trying to teach his young student.

I wholely agree with the lesson and I think the lesson is one of the lessons that is very important and significant to us.

Writing Chain: "Debate about success." by Class 26

When I started this essay, I tried to say about the unfariness about the success. But unfortunately others who wrote this essay changed it to a debate with a controversy that success is cruel or not. Even though the essay doesn't fit to my opinion at the first time, I am satisfied with in while we can share our opinion through this debate. And this is our strange essay, precisely speaking a debate.

  Pros:

Sung Jae: Success is cruel. As light and darkness both exist, there are some people who fail, if there are some people who success. So, this is why success is cruel. Like a society of animal, human's society has both strong people and weak people.

Young Il: Samsung or Apple are the one of them who succeed. I feel cruel about them because they used weak people like us and grow their company. So Mr. Lee and Steve jobs succeed, but we don't It's too unfair for us. Also, they have a lot of money, but look us. Did we get thousands of gold? We aren't. This is one of points that I hate success.

 Cons:

Justin: But I do not agree with that. Success is not something unfair. The pseakers in the upper are saying that everyone should succeed. But If everyone can succeed, how can you call that a success? Success is something that we don't see commonly : That's why people think it's important. Also, who said that YOU didn't success? You haven't even try to make a success in your life yet. Another thing, let's say everyone succeeded and became a CEO, then who's gonna work for the CEOs? No one. It's just a natural "Fact of Life." Next speaker, please continue your thinking.

Steve: Yes, I agree with Justin's opinion. If there was no success Korea including you can't be exist. I agree with Young Il that some of success actually harm people. However that never means that success is the negative thing. Success is very important to all people for their all sorts of thing related to them including dvelopment, life and technology.

Christina: I don't know why this paper or essay turned into a debate but if I have to continue on this debate, I agree strongly with Justine and Steve. It doesn't mean that Young Il is wrong but if everyone suceed in their lives, it's hard to call it a success. Of course success can be every cruel for some people but it doesn't mean they will ever succeed in their lives. Succeeded people can fail and failed people can succeed. It's like a game you can win or you can lose but if you try hard you wil not get the quote "GAME OVER" so quickly. It's true that success can be cruel but you can't say that works for every case. Young Il mentioned the companies and I want put some comments with it. Small companies can succeed if they work hard. So, it's not really unfair.

Conclusion:

Lily: I will conclude this STRAGE essay. T can't understand why this page changed to a debate paper. Even though we have various opinions on it but we can orgaize this tin two sides. One says it's cruel but the other says "No." Sung Jae and Young Il claim success is unfair for weak people. However, Justin, Steve and Christina said it's difficult to succeed everyone. In my opinions, if someone succeed in proper way, they have to help or donate for the poor. Then it will be fair for everyone.

Hello everyone!

Yeah!!!
Hi
Hello
Now I'm in GLPS(Global Leadership Programfor Students) hosted by KMLA.
First day I had a writing placement test. It was very very very hard. I wrote two essays for about 3 hours, struggling with difficulty.
